3 Thanksgiving Side Dishes You Can Make Early This Year
In addition to cooking the perfect turkey, setting a beautiful table and planning ahead are two key parts to our Thanksgiving celebration. In order to create a colorful backdrop for our turkey, we like to create small arrangements with premixed bouquets from our local market and pair them with greenery from our yard along with fresh persimmons. With fresh bread, wine, and assorted olives, we decided to keep our decor minimal so our food could be the centerpiece.
We all know the holidays can be stressful so we’ve created 3 easy sides that will go perfectly with any Thanksgiving meal. They can all be prepared ahead of time so that you can spend less time in the kitchen and relax while enjoying your company.
Wheatberry & Brussels Sprouts Salad
Served either warm or at room temperature, this recipe can easily be made in advance or thrown over a salad for leftovers. If you want to make it ahead of time, toss bacon, pecans, and sprouts just before serving.
Chipotle Mashed Sweet Potatoes
Paired perfectly with our Cajun Brined Turkey, these chipotle sweet potatoes have a touch of heat that can easily be adjusting to your liking and are a fun spin on your traditional sweet potato casserole.
Delicata Squash & Arugula Salad
This fall harvest salad is not only a healthy option for Thanksgiving but also a favorite side dish with almost any meal in our house! We love delicata squash because it is easy to slice and roast and adds a slightly sweet but hearty element to any salad.
Thank you R.Wood Studio and Sons of Sawdust for the beautiful pottery and table!
At the end of the day, Thanksgiving is about celebrating family, friends, and good food! We hope to keep your holiday as stress-free as possible with these easy, healthy, and delicious recipes for your entire table to share together.
