NEW - HERO® Charcoal Briquets
Don't get me wrong, I love the Hero Grill system in general and have been using pretty much since it came out. These briquets got a redesign after they were out of stock for many months. Unfortunately they no longer fit into the Hero charcoal pods due to larger diameter. I have to cram them in now and have them propped up the sides. There is just no good way to tile them like before. This creates uneven cooking surface. They do burn hot though, so 2 stars for that.
I like anything that uses natural materials, and now being able to use less by reusing the charcoal cartridges is even better. We used the Hero Grill at a recent CoolToys event at the beach and cooked a lot of chicken for a lot of people.
I cooked extra and froze. When I thawed and opened it smelled like it was just cook over open coals. The coals lasted for 5 hours. Great for cooking extra, and better if you need to warm your tent on a cold night. Duel use, cooking and heat.
Great addition ! I can re-use my pods over a weekend in the backcountry. Love the fact the charcoal comes in waterproof packaging and easily stows in a sling pack.
